Police in Alebtong District have detained a 39-year-old teacher, Denish Erem, on allegations of defiling a 16-year-old student from Akura Senior Secondary School.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred at Erem’s residence in Corner Aloi Ward, Aloi Town Council. The victim’s mother informed authorities that her daughter was defiled last month.

During a routine medical check-up on April 18, the student was found to be pregnant. She was suspended from school the following day and handed over to her mother, who filed a report at Akura Police Station on April 20, 2025.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga police spokesperson, confirmed that a case of aggravated defilement has been registered at Alebtong CPS for further investigation. The suspect remains in custody as inquiries continue.
